Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone knew what species of anenome that the Common Perc's host in the wild??

Many thanks,

AK

lol typical. What is regarded as the easiest anenome to keep that a clown would host?

BTA nems are the easier ones, ur clowns may or may not take to it tho, they usually do tho

Hi kyleee,

Yeah I like the look of the BTA's. What about torch corals? Would they likely host one of those?

hi,you could try, you never know with clowns tho, if doesnt work out its a good excuse to buy more coral :D

My clowns have hosted in nurmous Anemones. From the haitin pink tip to the BTA's. It all depends on the clown. I would go with the BTA. What type of lights do you have.

A couple of months back, I saw a really nice torch coral at my LFS, two in fact. They were orange with turquoise/greenish tips. I was like "awesome.... gotta get me that!!" I asked the assistant "How much is it??". She replied... "Hmmmm, hold on lemme go check for you...." then spun round on her heel as she was walking off and said "Oh wait, sorry, that's not for sale, its our display tank."

So after staring like a fat kid pressed up against the window of closed bakers shop, at the contents of this beautiful aquarium for another 5 minutes... none of which my money could buy, I walk around the corner and to my glee I saw another one. It was slightly smaller but still really pretty. I called the girl over again, which I didn't mind doing as shes rather damn cute in her little shorts and t-shirt. I'd love to do the old "Deuce Bigalow - Male Gigolo" trick (If you've seen the film, you'll know what I mean - snails from the cold water tank lol) :hey: , but none of the tanks are deep enough :grr: .

Anyhoo....... I said "What about this one.. how much is it?". So off she trots to go find out how much the torch coral was as I flashed a glance at her little buns wiggling away in her shorts. I was expecting it to be expensive, like most things in my LFS (£15 a kilo for LR... they can kiss my fat @$$) but not wanting to travel further afield or order online I was prepared to bite the bullet. 5 minutes later she reappears. "I just spoke to my manager and he said that its going in another one of our display tanks later this week".

:shout: :shout: :shout: :shout: :shout: WAHHHHHHHHHHHH :-(

I was thinking to myself "WTF.... DO YOU PEOPLE ACTUALLY SELL ANYTHING HERE OR DO YOU JUST PUT NICE THINGS IN DISPLAY TANKS THAT YOU WONT SELL TO ME....... JUST TO PISS ME OFF?" :grr:

So I bought a couple of hermit crabs and left.

The following week when I went back to the LFS to get some filter wool, fishfood and have a perve, I saw two b/w clownfish...They were so damn cute and I couldn't help smiling as I watched them playfully swimming round. I looked on the glass of the tank and the one next to it but couldn't see a price, so I asked one of the assistants how much they were.............. and yes you guessed it...... "Those are for our display tank".

If I ever meet the manager I'm gonna pimp slap him and shove him head first into his precious display tanks. The quest for B/W clowns and nice corals continues :/

There is a single species of carpet anemone that does exceptionally well in aquaria (for an anemone). Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to determine which species you are buying. Look for one that has been doing well for weeks.

They are also known to 'host' Sarcophyton leather corals. With the exception of S. elegans, these species are bulletproof in aquaria; they frequently tolerate conditions that others would not survive.

P.S.
Deuce Bigalow - Male Gigolo is an awesome movie.
