Comma swordtail (Xiphophorus signum)...
Named after the comma mark on the lower part of the tail.
So, this is not a Xiphophorus helllerii. This is a complete different wild swordtail species.

very nice looking fish. occasionally turn up at fish auctions
There certainly are...
This is also typical a strain where they show their sex at adult size. Someone who had a number of them from me complained that it took so long to raise them and he couldn't see their sex. he has complained so often that he only had females to me. I told him that this is normal with these types of swordtails to show their sex very late. It can even take a year with certain specimens before you'll know what sex they are. Also females show the gravid spot at adult size. Different than in other swordtail species.

it is possible for males to take longer than a year to sex out, over here it's often said that they can take up to 18 months maybe it's because it stops people complaining lol
