Comeandseecomeandsee!

I'm planning on being very critical here, so forgive me if I sound a bit rude.

Your article about Before you get a fish...

"Add a heater"... what if I wanted goldfish? this would damper them and shorten their life span...

Also, "Others turn these nitrates to nitrates" did you mean to say "Others turn these nitrites into nitrates?"

"Buy an aquarium approproiately sized for your spot" Well that's fine and dandy, what if where I want the tank originally is only 3ft, but I want to keep a Jardini Arowana? I somehow doubt a 40 or 65 gallon tank would be very fun for a Jardini full grown, I'd change that to say "Buy an aquarium that is appropriatly sized for the species of fish you wish to keep"

Also, you only mention using a dechlorinator... what about Tap Water Condtioner and Bacteria Supplements? Also, you only mention one kind of cycle, what about a fishless cycle?

Sorry, site needs a bit of work, you need to go more indepth with these explanations, also, don't put everything in point form, paragraphs are better to read as they keep your attention, where as long explanations in point form make it look like there's alot to read.

Guppies and Platys need salt in their water, and IMO are not good fish to cycle with, things like Zebra Danios (59cents in Canada at Petsmart) are better for cycling as they are more hardy.

Your Glossary only explains LFS, if your going to include a glossary you maswell define the basics aswell, such as cycling a tank, substrate, heater, decoia?? -not sure what that is, was decorations meant to be said?-, dechlorinator... You get where I'm going with this...

PS: Good luck with the site :good:

You need to enoucourage fishless cycling; it's faster than fish cycling, and helps spare a fish's life.

Although fish cycling is a common technique and should be endorsed too. Hardy fish are fine for cycling. It is just the matter of preference. Most people who have thier ban-new tank want fish right away and this is as close as they can get.

Yeah, but they'll still have a weakened lifespan, plus sometimes the fish you use to cycle don't work for your main tank. By "spare a fishes life" I meant the torment of ammonia though.

Yeah if you use a fish to cycle, often their resitances to future bacterial, parasite, and fungal infections are decreased. I used to use fish to cycle, but they would constantly get sick afterwards. If you must use fish though, I find Chinese Algae Eaters as a super hardy fish for the job, and less likely to suffer in the long run. I have to use a fish cycle with a large bioload to cycle some of my discus tanks, so I use chinese algae eaters for those, and they do great and end up growing and living long lives. Mollies and others tend to show the damage afterwards though.

A lot of people including myself have cycled their tank with danios or something, then just give them back for trade credit. Works just fine. Its a matter of choice. If the fish is hardy I dont feel it matters.

I've personally used things like Zebra Danios, when I got my 55 gallon tank I cycled it with the Zebra Danios, and I used kept them in a seperate tank for a year after I got my tank... they died a short time ago (about 2 months) after almost 2.5years of keeping the shoal of 10
