I'm thinking that my female guppies(so far) are getting columnaris- I think. I've had one die and another is not looking good. I recently added some new females to my tank and unfortunately I don't have a qt. I haven't had any problems before with this fs but I guess when you play with fire...... Both started the same way. Not eating, white coloration starts to develop on body, swimming stops, and than what seems like paralysis (sp). Soon after... dead- first one anyway. soon to be second one. I have three more females and three males along with BNT in the tank. Should I treat the whole tank for it before anyone else kicks off? I've done wc and all specs good- NH4-0, NO2-0, NO3-10, pH-7.6

Any help is appreciated. I'm posting here instead of emergencies for the experienced livebearers.

Thanks

Update.... second guppie died. I hope this doesn't wipe out my whole tank!!! Help, please.

Thanks.

Mods, If needed please move to emergencies.

I had this once on one of my very old guppies, it is very hard to treat. The first thing I did was give him a salt dip and then give the tank a fungus treatment. Left it a week once the treatment had finished, did a lot of water changes and then did a general treatment to make sure It had wiped it out. The guppy made an improvement but then died, it may have been down to his age as well as he was 4 years old.

It is very hard for the fish to get over it, so good luck.

I didn't feel I had any option but to treat the whole tank. All I have is Maracyn, Maracyn2, and Melafix. I dosed with Maracyn. Not sure if dosing with Maracyn2 will help although I know they can be used together. I probably will wait unless someone says to add it. I guess all I can do is wait and see if any others become infected. Quick question, should I do daily wc before dosing or leave and dose for 5 days? Just not sure.

Thanks.

Edit... just realized one of my males' pelvic fins are sticking straight out and he is swimming with only his caudel fin. Is this common also? This SUCKS!

The white colouration is it fluffy looking like cotton wool.
Does it go along the back and down the sides to form a saddle shape.

Any of your fish look skinny or bloated.

Maracyn one and two.
Increase aeration.
