I noticed today one of my red fins has what I think is pop eye, it also has a small part of its caudal fin missing and some black marks on its body but it seems happy and fine and swims about freely. Some of the others have small black clotches on their body and I'm really worried my tank has a bacterial infection, I was going to remove the one with pop-eye and humanly dispatch it to stop any infection, what would your advice be?

Thanks Ben

Have you checked your water quality to make sure that nothing is out of place? Have they been fighting at all, or could he have damaged his eye on anything? I would move him to a quaratine tank and do daily water changes- with the right care pop eye reduces fairly quickly. Here's a good link to some advice on treating pop eye: Clicky

Good luck!
