The Uaru I got last week changed colors. Her fins have gained a bright blue stripe and her eyes have turned from yellow to blood red. What does this mean?

It means she's growing up and settling in  Soon a dark black triangle on her flank should appeear, if it hasn't already :)

She already has the triangle but it is good to know that the change in color is nothing to be concerned about.

When I used to look at my Mini Atlas (Dr H Axelrox) years ago, I used to think that the three pictures of the Uaru were three different types. It was not untill a few years later when I managed to breed and rear a brood that I realised that they were all pictures of the same fish going through their juvenile stages.

The first picture showed a browny coloured fish with creamy white spots and a cream-yellow eye.

The second showed a mottled brown and cream fish with no visible spots with a cream-yellow eye.

The third showed a olivey-yellow fish with powder blue edged ventral fins with the distinctive dark wedge and a yellow-red eye.

This fish goes through quite a transformation. It is a favourite of mine.
