Color Change...

so i bought a betta 3 days ago.... got him out of that small cup...

at the time his body was red/blue/violet, the top fins and bottom fins were just white and black, and the whole back tail a sky blue.

now the back tail has become a darker brillianr metallic blue, the body is becoming the sky blue and the top part redish pin, and the white on the other fins is becoming partly the sky blue the back tail used to be. gotta say, loving the immediate change... but what's going on? Is this due to him being out of the cup? He has no tank mates. But he's looking prettier to me.

stressed out bettas lose their color. they often turn dull grey or brown. what you're seeing most likely is just a sign that he is getting over what was apparently a not much fun stay at the pet shop.

I was given to lovely light colour cambo males a while ago, one has gone nearly all metallic blue with a light head and some black marking, his brother is a lovely light metallic body with blue tips on his fins and I think I will see more changes over the next few weeks.

Betta's do seem to change colour as they grow up, so what yo bought may not be what you end up with 2/3 months down the line as they get comfortable with you and mature.

But they are still lovely creatures

They may even have some marbling in them to change it properly aswell

I hav 3 things to blame for this color change

A: it actually is happening. The metallic blue visably, in any light is spreading into the top and bottom fin now
B: In some lights i see different colors. I thought the whole tail was metallic and sky blue, but today the base has a circle of red in very select lightings of the tank
C: i did mix the tropical fish flakes from the 10 gallon set i had with my normal tropic food. apparently it has "Natural color enhancing" for fish. And it is TetraMin, so it's no some bad bad product. But yeah

he;s turning into quite the prety dude. I wonder if the white mouth/tip of the face will turn the pruple red that the rest of his face is? Most of his face had been whiote when i got him too, and i assumed it was normal coloration like his top and bottom fins, which are no longer white. Man, this guy is becoming pretty, evn though i wanted a white betta really bad. He's just become on handsome dude
