College Ignorance

Hey Everyone.

Seems as though my College have gone to the lows of most fish stores....
They have got a 5G tank with no heater and no filter and they have a Betta in it for the reception desk!!
So I have had ago at them and they refuse to buy a heater or filter but if I provide them they will use them.

I have put it on the Buy/Sell forum incase someone has an old filter or heater they wanna sell for cheap.
My LFS has quoted my way too much for them >.< £36.00 for both..
Wondering maybe if anyone has a heater or filter spare on Betta forums too?
I can't afford much cause I just had to pay out for a new laptop for college work.

Also any info that I could pass onto the College to help the Betta til I can get it a heater/filter.

Atm it's tank temp is a horrible 18C and warmest I have seen it is 20C....

I took it some freeze dried blood worm this morning which is ate quite quickly.

what are you doing at college? its summer holidays!

anyway, you could get a heater off ebay for £6 (i have 2 of them and they are fine)
they are from hong-kong so delivery could be a week..

and i got a filter for £10 off ebay, "Elite Stingray 5"

if you turn the thing the water blows against the tank and isnt too strong for a betta

£16 is better than £36 i guess

Only have about £10.00 for it.
Not my fishie but I still feel really bad for the poor lil thing.

I'm on the College Board so I can go in during Holidays to arrange events ready for the start of term
Hence why I needed new Laptop.

Ok i just had a look on eBay and the person i got my heater off isn't selling any atm

but these are £9 inc delivery, and in the UK! should get it sooner..

Thinking of closing my Betta tank down and giving them equipment for it >.<
I have a 5G set-up and matured waiting for a Betta.
Guess I can forget getting one and help that lil fella out.

just make sure they do regular water changes and get him the heater..

Personally, I would tell who ever was responsible for putting the betta there to get it sorted or you'll report them for cruelty!!!
The rspca wouldn't probably do anything anyway, but it might put the frighteners on the college
Or tell us the name of the college and i'll phone them and giv em ell!!

also worth signing up for freecycle in your area. i see people offering fish tank stuff on there all the time(in my local area), you have to do an offered post first, but it doesn't have to be for much, and can even be for something broken as "spares or repairs" as soon as you have done your offered post you could do a wanted post, telling the same story you have on here, and hopefully someone will be able to help out.
