collecting mudskipers

i am on the central queensland coast and i want to`keeps mudskippers i catch. I will transport in a fish bag and when i get home i will get a`tank ready. Its a established tank but with freshwater blue-eyes. can i lower the water level and add sand and salt or is that to soon??
