I found some really neat plants on the bank of a river that I went to. They look like pieces of underwater plants that broke off and drifted onto the bank. I will get some pics to see what they are, but I have a few questions.

I would like to put some of them in my 10 gallon that is set up for fiddler crabs, but the tank will be brackish because the crabs need that. Will that even work? The river is entirely freshwater and I don't think the plants would survive, would they?

Also, how can I make sure they won't make my fish sick? Right now they are in a 5 gallon so they don't make my fish sick. Do I quarantine them like I would new fish, or do I treat them with something, or what?

My tanks all have sand as a substrate. Is this ok, or do plants need gravel to ancor in better?

The plants were out of the water for awhile and kinda dried up some and got a little crispy. Are they dead and will decay in my tank, or might they still be alive?
