Are there any Lilly pads that will be good in a coldwater tank. I have been looking and the only ones i've seen are for tropical tanks. I want a nice lilly pad that roots and grows to the surface.

Any other plants that you would recoommend would be a great help. :good:

You could buy a lily in a garden centre. Get a dwarf one suitable for a half barrel garden ‘water feature’. I haven’t tried it but I don’t see any reason that it couldn’t be treated like we do the tropical ones, just chop the leaves off before they get to the surface, some of them have smaller leaves than the tropical ones we use in tanks.
Birstall sometimes have some nice cold-water plants. Lilaeopsis brasiliensis, Ludwigia repens, marsilea hirsuta, monosolenium tenerum and willow moss have all survived the winter in a garden tub, the tub did have a thin cover of ice a few times so they should all do fine in a cold water set-up.

cheers, i'll have a trip tomorrow and try and find some. They should have some reasonable ones that should work. I'll try them if i find some.
