My fish are living in the attic...the only place my parents will let them and its starting to snow...and the water for my platies (other tanks ok,) seems a little cold.68F. Any suggestions?

A second heater maybe?

I agree, a second heater or some sort of insillation, like polystyrene around the back and sides. Perhaps make sure the tank is not anywhere too draughty. Maybe above a room that is generally warm so the heat hits it when it comes through the floor.

how many watts is your heater?

If you use this calculator you can put in your average room temperature and it will work out how many watts you kneed to keep it at a constant temperature.

Not sure how many watts it is....it just says its for a 10gal, since that's what it is should I add another heater for a 10 gal? For some reason I seem to have about 6 heaters in a box, I dont know where they came from....

are they thermostatted? it can be risky adding extra heaters, especialy to such a small tank
