I want to put cold cathode moon lights on my tank are they better then leds how long do they last and were can i get the tubes besides ebay and all that stuff.

I would be cautious of this on a marine tank. I am not aware of what the specific spectrum on a cold cathode.

Most folk want the blue for night viewing. Blue is the color of the sun spectrum that penetrates to most deeper water corals. Thus blue lighting, while looking subdued to our eyes, can be like daylight to certain, nay, most corals.

LEDs work great, i have 5 over my 100 gallon. gives a great effect.

Cold Cathode tubes are really good for night viewing and provide a deeper shade of blue than actinics. I personally use them as an alternative to LED's but rather than running them at 12v I run mine at 6v therefore reducing the brightness by 50%.
I do not know the spectrum of the light output is either so wouldn't advise using them as a replacement for actinics but would urge you to get some for night viewing. I have had a set running for over a year (approx. 1 hour per day) and they're still going strong :D
The cheapest place I have found is www.ebuyer.com
