Anyone here keep Cockatoos??

Are they easy to keep?? Do they like to be in pairs?? Can two males be kept in the same tank??

Anything else you can tell me about them would be greatly appreciated.

I've Kept Cockatoo's before. First off, they need to have almost nil Nitrate's as they are dead sensitive. Second, no 2 males cannot be kept together. Third, im pretty sure they only have one mate, but they might breed in Harem's. No they arent easy to keep. Make sure you keep the water Clean, Clear and safe. They are terribly sensitive, and most cockatoo's availble are babys as breeder's try to get rid of them as soon as posdssible. Also, baby's are even more sensitive.

Thanks for the info. I was just curious about them as a LFS here has them and I have never seen them before. To fussy for me by the sounds of it. But I do appreciate the info.

:good:

I just bought 3 cockatoos... 2 F 1 M I had a really long chat with the guy at my LFS (one of the few who knows what he's talking about) and he seemed to think they were pretty easy to look after and although a little sensitive they would be ok in my tap water of 30ppm nitrate. Anyway guess I'll see how they go!
