I couldn't believe what has happened....I have a couple of cockatoo females and a male in a 55g along with about 20 various tetras, a couple of angels, and bn's. Now the story is this...

My cockatoos spawned...yet again...however the female and male have gaurded the fry so well that all the fish are in a corner of the tank and if any more the male is at them...I have never had such protection from them....where neons and tetras havn't eaten the fry within a day or two....its been week2 and the fry are getting bigger I'm happy  usualy i have to put the cockatoos ainto a tank of their own to succesfully breed ;)

Congratulations! Still waiting for my females to quit EATING their own eggs. *sigh* They'll get the hang of it soon enough.

IT took one of my females about 5 go's to get the hang of it....the longest it took for one of my females was at least 30 or so...I kept gambling with her...she was genetically from the "red" variety so I persisted with her....after about 6 months she helped raise about 15 critters which was ok ;)

For some reason the common yellow variety seem to get the hang of it....straight away
