yesterday after clening out my tank i found some little orange eggs and my male cockatoo dwarf cichlid is guarding them. i do hope they live and i get the fry.

how long will it take for the eggs to hatch?

Weird, the female should be the one guarding the egss. The eggs will take about 3-4 days to hatch and will fall to the bottom of the cave and be "wrigglers" for a few days before they become free swimming. There is a good chance that the eggs will be eaten if they are in a community tank; either by the parents or other fish. Females will often eat their own eggs out of fear, or because they are inexperienced.
