Weird, the female should be the one guarding the egss. The eggs will take about 3-4 days to hatch and will fall to the bottom of the cave and be "wrigglers" for a few days before they become free swimming. There is a good chance that the eggs will be eaten if they are in a community tank; either by the parents or other fish. Females will often eat their own eggs out of fear, or because they are inexperienced.
