i have just got 1 male dwarf cockatoo cichlid and 2 females and for some reason my water has slowly turned slightly alkaline it is now sitting at 7.4-7.6 and i know they prefer acid water
will they be ok?

thanks :)

They will be perfectly fine. The ones I have came from a breeder whose tap is almost 9 (same as my tap). She successfully bred in that pH, so I would say that they were happy!

As long as any changes are gradual, you will be okay. Congrats on the cockatoos!

Shouldn't be a problem, cockatoos are more tolerant of higher pH than other apistogrammas. My Cockatoos have been doing just fine (even breeding) in a pH of 7.5. What was the pH before? How much has it moved? Try to determine what may have caused this and keep an eye on your pH. In the mean time, I wouldn't mess with it. If it continues to rise, partial water water changes will help.

Congrats on the new additions!
