Hi all,
As some of you know from a previous post, I bought 2 Cockatoo Cichlid's last week (1x M and 1x F).
Right from the beginning, The female was really shy and the male was really aggressive.
The male is still a bit aggressive, but only with the female.
They're very rarely together, with the male chasing and 'nipping' the female.
She just swims away and hides.
She always appears to be on the run, or hiding. A lot of time, in between leaves on the plants.
4 days ago, she went bright yellow with 1 dot on her side.
I read up on the internet that this was signs of impending breeding.
I thought they might be a bit closer then.
The next day whilst I was at work, my wife noticed both of them together in an ornament (sunken ship).
The same day was when the male started getting worse.
Now the female steers WELL clear and yesterday started going back to normal colour (brownish) and is now normal colour.
The hiding is now all the time.
Sometimes doesn't even get to eat as when she starts to come out for food, the male starts hasslnig her.
I read online that if breeding did occurr, the female stands guard of the eggs and the male defends it.
This is definitley not happening.
I thought maybe the male didn;t measure up, or the female just don't fancy him

Can anyone tell me if there is anything wrong.
