My pet cockatiel Ragamuffin has been mating with our male cockatiel for a few months with two eggs laid but falling to the cage floor and cracking...this ones in the food dish with seed...but intact the issue is she is ignoring the egg and with another two birds marauding around the food what should I do?

If they are breeding they should have a nest box to lay eggs in.
They lay a clutch of eggs then sit on the clutch so even with a nest box she wouldnt sit on the single egg till she is finished laying.

she has a nesting box but hasn't laid a single egg in there...we ended up placing the egg in the nesting box for safety reasons and warmth thanks for the reply

Update: The egg was actually laid by the non-breeding female bird in the cage who is now compulsively laying eggs...

HOWEVER The breeding pair now have two lovely chicks and another egg or two still to hatch :D the chicks seem healthy and the parents are caring for them very well :good:
