i was told that using coal instead of rocks can be beneficial in a malawi setup
any info appreciated.

i know someone who has this as his substrate..

the only problem he had with it is that u need to wash it loads an loads of times to get all the grime, and colour out of it... it looks realy shiney and realy classy

Yeah, coal is ok, I don't know about benificial, but safe. Like Nightlife said, remember to rinse it really well!!!
