Going to be setting up my co2 system soon, but what bubble rate do i put it at?
is it something like 1 bubble per second
iv also got a little things that goes inside the tank and tells me in colour if the co2 is right
1 colour for ok
1 for too much
and one for not enough

Dont worry about bubble rate, concentrate on getting your drop checker a nice lime green colour and youll be fine.

What have you got inside the drop checker, is it a glass one?

bubble rate is totally relevant, this is how you can check how much co2 is going into your tank. if you set it to 2BPS and the DC is yellowing by the end of the photoperiod (how it should be) then you just leave it at that. (it might take a couple of days for fine tuning) However, one day you look at it has not gone yellow, you can check your BPS and you will probably fine its gone down, then you should be able to fine tune it back up to what it was before (in this example 2BPS)

also, bare in mind plant mass, if you do a large trim, you will need to lower your co2 slightly, to compensate as there will be less plant mass so less co2 will be used up and you dont want to gas your fish. Its the opposite after planting (after you do a large plant wait a day or two before upping) but we are only talking tiny tiny ups and downs on the reg/soleniod.

I probably should have thought before i spoke :p

I see your point about the bubble rate, never thought of it that way. I usually just tweak it slightly on a daily basis until its lime green then take note of my BPS

no problem mate, its a learning curve for all of us, you learn somethng new everyday :good:
