It must be....these are just the tubes that came with the tank and so used them and been lucky with my plants

I use tropical daylight from interpet - good UV spectrum and VERY high Temp!

Those bulbs are really good. I have three of the 8w T5's over my nano and the plants seem to love them. They are also not as harsh on the eyes as some of the others on the market and I have heard that the output does not deteriorate with age.
