before my big move, i was using the red sea CO2 bio system in my tank (picture posted below).. other peoples likes dislikes etc. should i just switch over to the nutrafin system and do a diy mix? (im trying to keep this slightly low tech). or has anyone here got a diy mix i could try for this system? im looking for some input on that system. i like this system cause the pump thats used to "inject" the CO2 into the tank gets turned off with my tank lights on my timer. any advise would be great!

thanks in advance. dan

CO2 is easy enough to make. Have a container of water and add some sugar to it. Then add a sachet of yeast and leave for a few days. The yeast feed on the sugar and produce alcohol and CO2 as the bi-products. You can use bakers yeast (for bread), brewers yeast (for beer), or spirit yeast. The spirit yeast will tolerate the highest concentration of alcohol and will produce more CO2 over a longer period of time if they have lots of sugar in the water. However, it will cost you more to buy than the former two yeasts.

There is a pinned topic on the nutrafin kit, all your questions should be answered in that thread :)
