Co2 Regulations

Thanks for the reply Mr G. I am at the moment waiting for a reply from the Health and Safety Executive about regulations etc. You are right about freezing the smaller bottles, it helps to pack the gas in at a lower pressure and allows the correct weight to be obtained. i would of course keep an eye on the weight and turn it off at 500g. As to the purity of the CO2, that is something I will research once I find out if I can legally do this. The filling that I will be doing is at home, however, I have heard of someone near Hove, who apparently goes round the shops with a bottle on a trailer behind his bike !!!! Now if he can do this legally, then surely I can have a bottle secured in my garage to refill bottles via a filling station lol. We shall have to wait and see as this will be a way for me to top up my CO2 and for it to also pay for the upkeep of my tank. So hopefully it will work out. Many thanks to all of you who have replied. i have taken all your comments on board.

I know they use CO2 for some of the lasers that they use.

Very interesting Egmel, but guessing you've got a little to much time on your hands :p

gizmo001,

You may already have seen this site, but I'll post the link anyway in case it helps.

British Compressed Gasses Association Lots of free PDF files regarding gas handling safety regs.

Paintballers also use something like this CO2 Fill Station for filling bottles upto 20oz (567g), but I'm not sure if the connectors are suitable. A quick google search of 'co2 fill station' brings up quite a few and the is also one on ebay UK

Just had an answer back from the HSE and believe it or not. It looks like there are no real regulations concerning the refilling of CO2 bottles. Just a load of safety advice which to be honest are no more than common sense precautions. So just a few more checks and it looks as though I am in business.

Sorry Themuleous, but I live in Sussex. Just a case of check up on a few last things and get the filling station setup and away I go, i think i should be ready within the next 2 weeks.
