Hi

Can anyone recommend a good quality CO2 reg looking to set up a fire EXT for my tank just getting the bits together

BR

Sorry, no one has responded to your query.

I do not know much about Co2 set ups, however there is a topic thread on this forum that shows how to make a diy Co2 setup

And on this thread there is a link for buying a C02 regulator from eBay, which is similar to these

Hope that helps a bit, and do let us know how you get on as I am planning on doing a diy co2 set up later this year.

As an eBay Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
I bought mine through that link, think it was £34 I have in on a 5kg fe with no problems

I don't use a solenoid. I just run my CO2 24/7.

It's actually quite a difficult question to answer. Could be why people are avoiding it. Simplifying things horribly, any reg that fits on the cylinder and isn't going to fall apart is fine, however you get options with gauges and staged regulators. Most of the regs we use in fishkeeping are actually single stage regs, but many are sold as dual stage. Branded regs tend to be very expensive by comparison, running into the hundreds of pounds quite quickly so we get a lot of Chinese manufactured regs, often sold on ebay, and generally they're reasonable pieces of kit.

Basically your decision is based around gauges, how many and showing what. A pressure gauge will give you some warning as to when the tank is going to run out, but it's not a lot of warning, when the pressure drops it means that the tank is nearly empty. Otherwise gauges can show the pressure within the reg itself, and/or the flow rate of gas. Most regs are adjustable, but some come with a fixed pressure (worth remembering that some diffusers need 3 bar of pressure).

Them and welders are probably the main users of CO2 regs. We're a sideline.

I read that Milwaukee MA957 was pretty good.
