im making my co2 reactor atm and wonderd if it was a waste of time putting a airstone on the end of the co2 tube? or just leave the it with nothing? (i hope you understand if not just say)

thanks
chris

hey,
I am not very experianced with CO2 Reactors, but from what I understand you want to get the bubbles as small as possible to have it disolve, so probably use an air stone, even better would be to put it on th intake to your filter so that the CO2 disolves in the filter

was going to but ive heard it can damage your filter long term

the problem with the air stone is that it doest do much in terms of dissolving co2 so i thought it might help a little while the reactor does the rest

I wouldn't think an air stone would be necessary, the sponge and things inside are there to break up the bubbles to aid diffusion.

thanks for the reply

im only thinking of putting sponge (filter sponge) in

should i putting some ceramic tube (also found in filter in) or should the spoge be fine?

thanks again

I find with my Aquamas reactor that some bubbles break up as they travel through wooly media, some get trapped in it and some float straight to the top. The bubbles at the top get caught up in the current from the outlet of the filter and are thrashed around.

I get a slight trickling sound from it, but the performance is excellent IMO.

Dave.
