As some of you may know, I have just started using c02 and it is attached to the ventura on my filter !

How do you know how much c02 ppm is being injected into your tank !

I have know clue how much is going in lol !

How can i find out ?

Thanks alot

Richie

Get yourself a pH and KH test kit and test the water in your tank. Then cross-reference them on chart (4/5 of the page down), and get your co2 level.

You should be looking for 30ppm co2.

eg, my pH is 6.8, my KH is 6 so my co2 'level' is 29ppm

HTH :D

Or if you don`t have a kh kit....

Take a jug of tank water and leave it to stand over night, this alows the gas in the water to equalise with the atmosphere

Measure the ph of the standing water from the jug, and then a fresh sample from the tank.

there should be a ph drop of 1between the standing water and the tank water , I.E 7.4from the standing water and -6.4 from the tank would equal a 30ppm drop

Ok well i am slightly confused !

My Kh is 0 and my Ph is 6.2

According to tetra test

Soo this would mean my co2 ppm is ......... ?

I cant understand how to work the little calulator mainly because it says something about degrees lol !

Someone help lol

Thanks alot

OK, here is an easier method, no chart.

http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_co2chart.htm

Open the site and scroll down until you come to some fill in the box options. Actually 3 fill ins being pH and KH either degrees or PPM. Once TWO have been entered (only 1 KH) the CO2 PPM will be displayed. Most test kits provide the pH and KH readings in degrees. Therefore a pH of 7.5 and a KH of 8.5 results in a CO2 ppm of 16.1. I would suggest that you fool with the calculator a little by changing the parametres and watching what happens to the resultant CO2 concentration.

Well according to this my c02ppm is 0

Can this be right ?

And if so i need to either get my Kh up or my Ph

How do i go about doing this ?

Thank for all the help

I think I would believe the calculator. That leaves an inconsistency in your readings. How old are your test kits? They do not last very long. Redo the tests and confirm the readings. I don't think they are correct.
