I recently noticed a pH rise in my tank. At first I thought it was the use of JBL Ferropol. After testing my tap water it looks like there has been a rather dramatic rise in it's pH from about 7.0 to 7.6
I have also begun to find injecting CO2 into the tank difficult. I am using a DIY yeast based setup which I have never had a problem with before. All of a sudden I cannot get the bloomin' thing to produce bubbles in the tank. It's bubbling in the bottle and I'm know there's pressure in the system as when I undo the bottle there's a pretty strong hiss. With a KH of only 3 I have a CO2 level somewhere very near 1mg/l. My question is, is my CO2 being used up so fast that it's disolving before it leaves the inlet tube? It's got to be going somewhere!

Try injecting the bubbles at a higher level in the water column. ie just under the water surface. If there are still no bubbles and you have pressure in the bottle then you might have a blockage somewhere. Do you use a 1-way stop valve in the air line? Check that this is working properly. If the bubbles are coming out at the higher level but not when the outlet is placed deeper in the tank then you may have a leak. You can check this by immersing whole bottle (including mixture) + airline into a bucket of water and check where the bubbles are coming from.

Good luck.
