So yesterday, in an effort to get my PPM's up I added a 2nd 2 liter coke bottle and since I have I haven't seen jack! The existing one had been mixed up a few days before and had been pumping out bubbles pretty good...but I was still getting only 16ppm. So i figured I'd whip up another bottle. Drilled a hole, used my All-Glass brand silicone sealant and mixed up my usual concoction of 2 cups sugar, warm water (not too hot!) and 1 tsp of yeast. This is the same mix I use on my other. To ensure no leaks I sealed my T-junction for my airlines with the silicone also and have checked for leaks and there are none. Now they've been up an running, or not running, for 24 hours and nothing. When I shake them I get a nice stream of bubbles for about 15 seconds and then they die off again. Any ideas? I thought it may be because I had like 6 feet of tubing so I cut a few feet off and am seeing how that runs, I just wanted to see if anyone has ever had an issue like this and what they did

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST!

hmmm thats weird .... you got a pretty lazy batch of yeast there that needs shaking up :fun:

probably the yeast is expired already ? or no .... dunno

Id make up another batch i would'nt wait any longer to see if it works, its nothing to do with the length of the hose, id say mine also has to reach about 6 ft to my tank, the bubbles are probably just air and not co2 unfortunatly.

Well, it's going a bit now...not as much as I'd like tho, about 40 bubbles per minute. I'll try whipping up a couple new batches after I bring my girlfriend home and see how that goes. I don't think my yeast is junk yet, the jar is about....2 months old and has been in the 'fridge the whole time. I can figure this out!

I was actually thinking of ordering another ladder as soon as I get cash. (hopefully I get that job at Petco so I can replace this tall 29gal with a shorter, larger and better 40 gallon breeder) I'm sure 2 bottles with 2 ladders will undoubtedly get those PPMs up!

Hey, has anyone ever tried DIYing a ladder?

(nice sig gwikimpss. Love mythbusters.)

Yeah! It's superb! They have the best jobs in the world!
