For my 29 gal. I use 2 cups of sugar, 1 teaspoon of active dry yeast and 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a 2 litre bottle. I fill it up with water to where the bottle curves. I've had good C02 production for almost two weeks now.
I have used a very similar mix except with around 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of dry yeast. This tended to generate a slower rate of CO2 production for longer. I had 2 No. 2 litre bottles in a 250 l tank and produced around a buble every 2 seconds for around 3 weeks. This depended a bit on the temperature in the room. The warmer the room, the greater the rate of production.
