My tanks not overstocked, and the filter is running fine, just checking this is going to be OK, obviously as I am going to be losing O2 Default, at least until plant activity starts happening (ab out a week or so?)...

Any comments or advice? If not, i guess this is night one, and I hope the fish are ok!

Yes your doing thinks right, if your using co2 you dont need to use an air pump as this dissolves the co2 very quickly, your fiss should be fine, just keep an eye on them if they start gasping at the top of the water decrease the amount of co2 you are injecting,

Cheers Gordon

Thanks :> I hope my plants take, I do fear they may be beyond saving (paranoid) but no worries I have a load of brilliant java fern arriving tomorrow.

do you use anyplant ferts? and what is your lighting, as both will help you on your way to growing your plants

Cheers Gordon

Lighting to be honest is basic, its an Aquaart 60 litre system with the supplied florescent (18inch).

The substrate is Laterite, overlaid with sand and small gravel. Water movement is now minimal using supplied filter/heater unit.

I have liquid fertiliser, to be honest I fertilise my 'low tech' small tank, this is planted with mainly floating plants (Riccia, Water Lettuce and a few others), java moss and java fern, and they grow great in there (using an Arcadia arc-pod).

Should I add some fertiliser to my newer tank? I'm not adverse to the idea...

also Here is a pic of the small stream of CO2 bubbles.

there's no need for extra c02 if the light intensity isn't high enough for te plants to need it...

Ah. Well to be honest the stream of bubbles is pretty limited. Will it promote 'extra' plant growth?

What is your watt per gallon reading? IMO 2 WPG and above should use CO2

I'm not sure...

But gonna put the air curtain back in (will cut it shorter and move it away from the plants, as my fish, though not stressed are going to the surface alot... Or I could try my small spare internal filter...
