As it states in the title,
can you use Co2 injection for plants and also have a mechanical device of some kind involving air. The deep sea diver or a colored volcano?

here is my take on it. But i would like others thoughts as well.

Sure, you could have them both, but the o2 released into the aquarium will cause the Co2 to also dissipate at a faster rate as well. Which defeats the purpose of the injection. along with it will cause the plants to pearl faster.

I'm not really sure but I don't think that putting the bubbles in there will reduce the level of CO2 that you can put in there e.g. 30ppm, but you would have to put a hell of a lot more CO2 in there to obtain the right rates due to all the surface movement by the volcano. If it was just a diver with bubbles coming out every once and a while I can't see why it would effect it too much as long as they aren’t right next to each other.

Surface disturbance is the biggest issue with a volcano as it would be reasonably violent (couldn’t think of a word) and would drastically increase the loss of CO2. However in a planted tank the trend these days is to have a bit of surface disturbance as this insures that you do not asphyxiate the fish.

There would be a balance of o2 and co2 and how much you want in the tank and will depend on how much you want to spend on co2. More o2/surface tension the more co2 required

I personally would leave it out as why would you increase your chances of CO2 loss just for a little diver blowing bubbles or volcano

you could power them with CO2 but injection rates would need to be high, and not much of it will be used, as it has low contact time.

It is possible to have a high CO2 & O2 content at the same time. The problem is surface agitation which causes CO2 to gas off quicker.
