Hi all.

I have quite a heavily planted tank with neons and glowlight tetras. It isnt real densely planted so you like cant see anything, but i have lots of temple plant, ambulia, indian fern, and some other broad leaved plants. I am putting liquid plant food in, and my ambulias, well all my plants are growing like CRAZY, and am making quite some pocket money out of them. I was wondering if i should put some Co2 in there, i heard that plants love it. I have seen on my local "ebay" website, which is actually called "trademe" for New Zealand, they are selling some real cheap Co2 injectors. Like 15NZ dollars which is like 12US dollars. But do i need to be careful, and do i need some kind of test kits so it doesnt all go wrong. I have seen (or at least i think so ) Some people have c02 problems or something. What should i do. I would love to see what happens to the plants, and if i can nab even more money out of it :).

Thanks guys

While most systems will benefit from CO2 injection, it is not absolutely necessary if you have a low-light system. What kind of lighting do you have?

Can you show us a picture?

CO2 is required by plants for food synthesis (photosynthesis). Whether you are injecting CO2 or not, plants will still require CO2 (whatever is available in your aquarium). The more light available, the more CO2 will be required.

Hmmm. You could go either way really. Depends on what you want. I have run CO2 and not run CO2 on a similar lighting level.

How long have you been setup with the plants?
