OK So this has probably been posted too many times to count, however... I have a 27g tank and I am currently using a single Nutrafin Kit and I have 2x 36w T5 power compacts hung above the tank giving me around 2.5 WPG...
I do not think this is enough.. Plant growth is good, but not ideal (may have something to do with the pea gravel substrate)..go on... I know I need to upgrade the substrate...
But - - Until I upgrade the substrate, should I add another Nutrafin kit?

What dya reckon?

Cheers

try making a double bottle co2 kit or yeah just buy another nutrafin one, try adding some ferts aswell like an all in one liquid

also you only have to upgrade your substrate for certain plants, a lot will thrive without a decent substrate, things like mosses, java fern, anubias, elodea densa, and riccia.

plants need nutrients, light, and enough co2 right. So having 2 out of 3 aint bad to have :) plants breath out co2 which is beneficial to the plants but it's just not enough. Trust me it wont hurt to put some co2 injected into your tank. When i had my 33 gallon and did the DIY co2 i hated it, it wa messy and i had to change the solution every 2 weeks or week depending if i made a bad batch or had a wrong recepie... I dunno i just hated diy co2 lol but it is very beneficial even if you dont have the proper substrate... Substrate would help more..... heating coils would help under substrate on every tank too but not everyone has it... but the more you have the more you can definately help your plants out. Do what you can, read up on diy co2 (using pop bottle method def cheapest.. but now you gotta get silicone to do it and such.. (save the trouble and buy the kit if youd ont mind spending the 30$)

Ok So it looks like a another bottle will do it. I can get nutrafin kits for £15 so I will probably follow that route and number the bottle 1 and 2 so that every other week I change the oldest bottle.
Now another question - Am I better linking the two to one bubble ladder, or use both bubble ladders, or get a glass diffuser to get the best co2 concentration in the tank.
I bought a glass difuser once, but couldnt get the pressure up high enough to push the gas through the ceramic disc.. When I tried to fiddle with it, it broke (exspensive fiddle).
So - i would prefer not to have t use both ladders, and I would prefer to use a glass difuser, so does anyone has experience of glass difusers on DIY co2?.

Finaly question - I have been buying individual sachets of yeast for a while now. only 41p a sachet, but seeing as after taking a 1/2 teaspoon out it states use the rest within 2-4 days, I end up throwing the rest away... How does eveyone else deal with this. am I just being stooopid.?

Thanks

Can anyone help with the DIY Co2 yeast?. I want to know simply if I am throwing stuff away for nothing... Any feedback truly would be appreciated.

thanks

Unless you know your CO2 levels then adding another kit is either pointless and/or dangerous. Can you test CO2 levels? If not then it is a decent first step: if you are dosing the correct levels of fertiliser into the water then changing the substrate may not be hugely necessary depending on the plants you have.

I have a 30G and I use 2 Nutrafin kits with sugar to the first level ½teaspoon yeast and water to the top level. I leave them for 2 weeks changing alternate weeks and it used with a bubble counter and Rhinox 2000 glass/ceramic diffusor. My drop checker stays mid to light green so we must be on about 30ppm or close to so all is OK.
