Co2 Diffusers

If i was you Gnatfish i would put a fine air stone on the end of you DIY Co2 tubing in your tank, that will give off a resonable mist of bubbles depending on the stone.

Then save all your pocket money for a better diffuser.

In the long turm its allways worth while spending that little extra for the next item up, granted you have to draw a line but you will end up with somthing far better with more longevity than a cheep item even if that means waiting longer for it.
You get what you pay for, remember that.

What about the mini diffuser? That should just about work on a 16G and is £7.99 and will be ok on DIY CO2 as well :) But moody's advice is also good, that would be even cheaper!

Hey guys, bought the matrix 104 diffuser little over a week ago for my DIY set-up and its doing an awesome job... Only running one 2litre bottle in my DIY system and there's more than enough pressure. Tones of tiny bubbles coming out and its already made a difference to the plants, especially the Amazon Swords. Don't know what the difference is between the 102 and 104 is though. I bought the 104 as it sounded like a higher model and usually means it might be a little better... What mix are you guys using in your DIY CO2 systems? wb :D

Thanks everyone!!

Themuleous - Good suggestion, may do it

Moody - Thanks for the sugestion, whats an airstone and what it exactly do though? :p

-billabong-

YOU JUST SAID SO MANY THINGS I WANTED TO HERE ALL AT ONCE!!!!

It works for DIY mixtures and it helps the Amazon SWords!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However the 104 is sold out. I don't see much difference between the 102 one so....i suppose it will be alright. Whats your mixture that you use?

Thanks

EDIT: I just emailed Aqua Essentials, and he said that the only difference is, the shape. Great fast reply, i'm sure after ordering my product i'll be recomending them :D

An air stone is a stone that is porous, that is lots of hole within the stone, abit like and aero choci bar and it has a piece of plastic at the end to attach to a pump. You would be putting on your Co2 though.
If you want to PM me your address i can send you one.
You would have to weigh it down once its in the tank.

Have a look at these.

And that would diffuse it, properly?

Until you saved up for what you want, ive used airstones before and they work but they waist alot of Co2 thats the down side.

You best get thinking of what you want.

Only had my DIY setup for just over a week but this is what i did last. I topped it up y'day and kept all last weeks yeast in the bottom of the bottle. added another tablespoon of yeast, lil over a cup of sugar, 1 cup of self-raising flour(all i could find), and leftover pineapple juice i found in the fridge just for fun. mixed all that in a plastic measuring jug with very warm water. just enough water to fill the bottle 3/4 of the way to the top. I then filled the sink with very warm water and put the bottle in with the top open for the yeast to multiply. Went out for a while and came back and it had overflowed with loads of froth so emptied a lil out. I then went and attached the bottle to the piping and left it ferment. the whole thing was going nuts and an insane amount of bubbles were coming out so i left a lil more out the bottle...thought it might explode. That might have been because the yeast was still really warm from when it was in the waterbath. Thats my experience with it so far. loads of bubbles still coming out now.

Ummmm you don't want to heat the yeast more than 47C (Roughly) because the yeast will die(their enzymes denature) but around that is their optimum temperature.
I left last weeks yeast in because there's no need to get rid of them. they will just multiply again if you leave them in aerobic conditions. And the dead yeast in there will just be eaten by the live ones and used as protein. think some people do a complete change..
Ummm use flour for protein so the yeast can multiply, sugar for energy for respiration and fruit juice for the same reason. Think fruit juice might be better than sugar even. Apparently fructose in juice is easier to break down by enzymes in the yeast. not 100% sure about that. I just mixed the two. heard some people use baking soder to lower the PH in the bottle(just give a better environment for the yeast i think.

Well that's pretty much all I know about DIY yeast from reading random stuff on the net and did a lil biol prac on it before.
Hope this helps u and anyone else reading! take it easy guys

S**t wrote more than expected ha!

WOW!! Thanks :D

I think i am going to go for this one. It's like the one that worked for -billabong-
