hi has anyone any idea what thread you get on a lightweight commercial drinks c02 bottle as i wanted to get a hydor set up but can also get hold of a drinks co2 reusable co2 bottle.
really need to know just wether or not hydor advance adaptor,,s will fit a commercial bottle anyoe any idea

Disposable welding cylinders are what Im using, get the regulators really cheap too....

can u tell me what other pieces of equiptment do i need to go with the bottle and regulator

To start with I just ran with a cheapo regulator and some silicon airline - which fed the gas into my filter inlet... but the POP sound as the bubble drove me nuts, so I bought a ladder diffuser off ebay.

Whilst trawling ebay, I found a "needle valve" for next to nothing - this is used to finely adjust the gas flow, but to be honest - with a little patience you can do that with the knob on the regulator.

The gas I buy (1 - thats ONE a year !) is from Machine Mart... they do a high capacity version (010131057)
GAS BOTTLES

Heres a regulator - 010120110
Regulator

ANY welding shop will carry these, so shop around... but dont forget - you need ONLY Co2...
Whilst you are at the shop - beg a short length of reg - welder pipe, you only need 2 inches or so... this fits into the reg, and is a snug fit inside airline !

Good luck - if you need any more help, dont hesitate...

Then you can get a regulator for about £25 .... theres a guy I use near J28 of the M1, does one that fits straight on.... if you buy a "standard" reg you will need an adaptor, these are £10.

Have a trawl around ebay for a diffuser... a lot of folk swear by the glass ones, but I prefer the ladder type.

Best advice will be in The planted forum where they are used :)

Plus another vote for the ladder. I have used them on my low-tech planted for over a year, but have never used a glass type to compair to. They work will, and you can actualy see the CO2 being desolved.
