ive finally succumbed and got myself a CO2 canister, but i havent turned of my airpump whilst using it, just put it on low, is it possiple for CO2 to be used effectively with an air pump at the same time?

its the tetra CO2 optimat kit, you have the green diffuser in the water, you press the button on top of the canister, it fills the diffuser, then diffuses through the fine mesh at the top? i know its basic but im limited money wise

oh, ok, I would turn the airpump off, it's not needed, as long as your tank gets a little surface agitation it will be fine, you can't really overdose Co2 with an optimat kit anyway.

really? ok then, if i wanted to test out, not using the air pump, how long could i leave it, in case the fish start to "choke"? or is there no risk of that?

the fish won't choke, there simply isn't enough CO2 being dissolved with the optimat system, if it was as good as full pressurized CO2 everyone would be using it.
