As said.

Take the instructions and solution that came with the drop checker..............and throw them in the bin. Then get some 4dKH and bromo blue based Ph reagent and use that instead.

Coley is the solution it came with bad? they seem the same too me and works great. Im using it but im not so sure anymore

The one that came with my drop checker is yellow while the API solution I now use, is still dark green. It's quiet shocking just how "out" it seems to be.

The solution it comes with is meant to be used with tap water and Im not sure how it makes its colour. Bromo blue is a Ph reagent and when used with a know solution of 4dKH you know what colour you are looking for.

API normal range test kits are OK to use as they are based on bromo blue.

The reason we dont follow the instructions is that they tell you to fill with tank water which can be variable to say the least so it could tell you that there is enough CO2 when there isn't

The 4dKH is a known quantity and a known Ph unlike tank water which may be Ph 7 today and Ph 6.6 tomorrow. (Fish waste/Tannins etc.)
