I have never been successful at growing aquarium plants and now I see why. I have read the beginner info on this forum but I am still confused. I would like to do an easy set up no CO2 injection, easy to grow plants. What wattage and type of bulb would I need in U.S. measurements/wattage...whatever it is? I always get the lights that say they are for plant growth but never seems to work. Where can I get them cheaply? Also, if I used playsand as a substrate would that be good for the plants? If so, how do you vacuum sand? I am thinking of a large tank with dividers...maybe divide a 55 gallon into three sections, a large middle section with tetras or angels and the other two sections for bettas. Or maybe all bettas. I need to do more research. Would these kinds of fish destroy all plants? Thanks.
