I'm planning on a pair of clowns as my first fish, and I'd hoped to go buy one black and one true or an ocellaris on saturday, but our LFS only has one true for sale. Where do we stand in going to buy the black one somewhere else? This would mean one would be put into the tank, and maybe later that day or the next day, the other would be added.... would this cause problems, or am I being overly cautious?

As long as there is a distinct difference in size there should be no problems

The larger one will become the dominant one

Thanks :) great!

OK, another question.... just been to the LFS and found the reason they don't have a black percula for sale... a pair! oh so very beautiful, and of course they won't split them. Anyway, I'd really like to buy this pair, but I so wanted an orange percula... is my tank big enough to take 2 pairs of clowns? I am also planning on a royal gramma, purple firefish and a bangaii cardinal, but I can take one of those out of the equasion if I must. My tank is 40 UKGals / 48 USGals.... or 180l ;)

 I succumbed.

Hubby is, as we speak, buying the black perculas. £50 for the pair... :hyper: the LFS is turning out to be very helpful and reliable, even asking for a water sample to be taken before he'd sell us them. I can't wait! My question still stands though, any chance of adding a couple of true perculas or ocellaris?? or am I just wishful thinking?

hummm, you probably could if you bought a pair of the orange variety, but I've never read of anyone doing it. Dont buy one orange perc, or its gonna get picked on, make sure you buy in pairs. Something like a pair of skunks might do better if you just want the orange look. Dunno if you have the percula/ocellaris "nemo" pattern on your wish list, or just the orange look ;)

Well yes, the percula 'nemo' look was what I wanted. Anyways, I guess I'm not getting one!! Got the black perculas - Jack & Jill acclimating as we speak, they're gorgeous!

Ooh, nice, I'm excited for ya. Lets get some pics :hey:

i quite like plumbing makes a tank look more sophisticated as long as its neat :p only saying this coz i have a few tubes set up from my skimmer and powerhead

I wish someone here can come to my house and drill and pipe my tank...I'll might be able to get one person from my LRC to do it for me :fun:
