I recently had one of my clowns disappear, whether he died in the tank, or jumped out of the tank, it has been a complete mystery. I replaced him with another clown hoping that the female would take to him right away. I think I may have 2 females now because they fight quite often. They were fine the first 3 weeks or so, but now they fight horribly. Should I wait it out to see if one becomes dominant and the other reverts to male (If this is the issue)? Or should I take the newer back to the LFS and try to get different smaller one? Is death the only thing coming out of this? There are no other fish in the tank, so it's just them. It's a 29 gallon.

Thanks,

Joe

its probably best to separate and find a more suitable candidate

Should I not try to get another clown? I really wanted another pair, but at this rate, I'm afraid to try again...
yeah thats why i said find a smaller suitable one. it might be that your female will not accept another male

Ah yah, I figured that much. Well hopefully she hasn't become so territorial I can't add anything else in the tank. She is the one doing all the chasing and nipping. I'd rather not have to get rid of her also...

it may settle down once they find their place. But if the smaller one is already female aswel as the bigger one then theres no chance

before adding the new clown it might be advisable to rearrange your rockwork also.

This helps to break some of the territory that the original clownfish will be so protective over.
