Hi all. I was wondering what species of clownfish will live peacefully together? I know that the false and true perculas can be and also the b/w, but what about seabae, clarkii, maroons, saddleback, skunk, tomato etc, etc.

Thanks,

AK

none of the clowns species will live "peacfuly" together, unless you have a very large tank with them hosting nems on different ends, and even then things may not work out, yes people will say theyve done it before but they cant say theve had any success unless it was long term

I still agree with what your saying though :good: i know there is no way on earth my tomato clown would tolorate another clown. He attacks my hand (makes me jump and actually gave me a tiny cut. I know im a weakling) i could just picture what he would do to a clownfish even in a massive tank. He even trys to get me through the glass, but thats why i love him!

I was wondering if I could put to Maroon Clowns together in a 55 Gallon Aquarium?

Thanks,
Josh

I've seen someone who kept a false perc and a B/W clownfish together and they were actively breeding. I'm pretty sure someone on here had maybe 4 false and 2 true or a similar ratio. Admittedly it was a largish tank. What about multiple clowns of the same species?

Betta, I know what you mean about being bitten though. Only this evening I was looking at the tank and decided to do some aquascaping. A few days back I was marvelling at the size of a couple of bristleworms that had ventured out to feed. One must of been about 8mm wide and over 10cm long and that was what I could see of him. I was paying more attention to the rocks as I didn't want to get tagged by the wee beasties. As I was moving the rocks, I noticed the blue damsel was fleeting around my hand in what I thought was some aggressive gesturing. I was proved right when the little sod bit me 3 times. I nearly dropped the rock as he startled me lol.

I had to laugh at his boldness. The thing is, I can put my hand up to the glass when he's near the front of the tank and move it back and forth. He doesn't mind that but, as soon as my hand goes in the water and I start rearranging his turf..... then... ITS ON!! :sly:

I was going to give them frozen bloodworm tonight but, he's going without because of his cheek... I'll teach him to bite the hand that feeds him :p

b/w are ocellaris clowns, so they pair just fine, you can have a "gruop" of percs or ocellaris if you have a large enough tank for like 15-20 clowns to reduce aggresions there will be on pair and the rest will stay juvies

I thought the average lifespan of a clownfish is 6 years,

Hah, no way longer than that. There's a few pairs amongst member's of my local club that are aproaching 2 decades old...
