Hi,

I bought 2 clownfish about a week ago, both from the same tank at my lfs, but only one seems active. For the first couple of days both would swim round the tank together getting used to the new surroundings but now one of them constantly swims round the tank and the other just stays in the same place about 2 inchs off the bottom of the tank. He doesn't seem to move or react to food. The other clownfish will frequently get close to it as if it was making sure its ok, but not in an agressive way. This has been going on since yesterday morning and im puzzled why its happening. There is no visable sign of illness.

Any help would be appreciated as am starting to get worried about him since hes not eating.

Thanks.

:-( Sorry for your loss

I can't provide expert advice, as I am a beginner too, but I would say this fish may have had issues before you brought him home. You said the other clown is doing fine which leads me to believe your parameters are good in your tank. I would check with the fish store you got him from and see what they say. You might have them test your parameters too just to double check.

Hi..there are so many reasons in a SW tank that could have affected the poor clown. Some other considerations...was the clown tankbred? It's too late to know now, but, asking the lfs to feed them before you buy them is helpful..also to ask how long they were there. Some lfs's are really good and will tell you not to buy them since they just arrived and will hold one for you. Sometimes, fish just die for unexplained reasons. Sorry for your loss....keep on plugging and retry. SH
