I am planning a 125 gallon FO tank. I would like a trigger possibly a clown or picasso and would be filling the tank with lots of rock (hiding places) for other fish.

What can I get away with if the trigger is my base fish?

thanks for your replys.

Ben.

Any large tang (they are capable of taking care of themselves). Perhaps a large angel.

Dont get a lionfish as triggers take great delight in killing them

3fsh has some beutiful trigers, I'll point out your post to her.

Don't go with anything with really fancy finnage, triggers are close relatives of puffers and fin niooers, Large angels, surgoens, basslets, wrasses and the like can be housed sucessfully with a triggere, assuming its not insainly violent. I'll bet you could get away with a puffer in there too.

The most entertaining combination is definitely a clown trigger and a picasso trigger. My picasso and clown have a love/hate relationship but they are definitely best buddies and are always going to check out what the other is doing. Just make sure that the clown trigger is put into the tank after the picasso and that he is smaller than him as well. Remember, anything that is small and defenseless is seen as a bite size candy bar to a trigger. Dog-faced puffers are also good tankmates for triggers... I am hopefully going to be getting one in the future when I get a 125g set up for them.
