clown pleco

I just got back from my lfs, I went after otos and was talked out of one. The owner told me of all the problems she is having keeping them alive in the store so I decided against one. I did get talked into a clown pleco. I have 72 hours to decide if it is right for my tank and if it is what I really want. I have a 23 gallon octagon tank and in it is 5 platty fish. Can you tell me if it will be a good bottom cleaner for uneaten food and algea and what I need to buy for it special to make it feel secure and healthy? THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE ME
