Once I get my 75 US gallon tank, I want to put in an anemone, and a male for my female Percula clown. I know my clown is female, because the bigger or only clown will change to female. I was wondering if the gender change is a long enough proccess to get him home and into the tank, or if it happens fast. If it happens too fast, I guess that means you have to buy them as a pair.

Also, Can a clown change from female to male? Or just male to female?

You are probably better buying two clowns at the same time but with Perculas adding a smaller clown should work

As to an anemone they aren't easy to keep needing perfect water conditions and good lighting

In the wild they can in theory live for ever

IMO you are much better off getting a leather coral - much easier to keep and the clowns will be just as happy with it as with an anemone

clowns will rarely change from female to male, the change will not happen on the way home so you will be okay there, make sure you get a juvenile clown to pair up with, make sure you wate at least 6 months for your tnak to mature before adding the anemone, and you have strong lighting

Ok, I know clowns can live without anemones, mine is doing that now...as with buying the male, I buy the smaller one in the store tank right? Cause that one would be a male. I'll start another post on how they do together once I get the male.

just keep it in this post, buy the smallest one there, thatll be ur best chance at it

Yup, changing from female to male for clownfish is impossible, but going from immature male (what all start out as) to mature male is very possible. As mentioned, buying the smallest one at the shop gives you the best possibility for success.

i wouldnt add another clown until u figure out whats wrong with the one you have
