i am soon getting clown loach in my tank but ive just treated my tank for white spot.i heard off a mate that white spot cure can affect or even kill clown loach is this true?rearly i dont wana change most my water in my tank can any 1 help me? :D

All I no is that clown loaches are prone to whitespot, and sometimes you have to half the med for them with them being a scaless fish.

when your at the shop buying them look very closely to make sure thewre's no sign of whitespot, if there's 1 spot don't buy, but don't get paranoid about it!!

get them from a a shop that has good catchers aswell, may sound stupid but it does no good the fish being chased aorund with a net for 5mins by a stupid imployee.

take your time to acclimatise them, atleast 25 mins, turn your lighting down to a minimal ammount.

then hey presto you should have whitespot free clown loach!!

although if you don't, i'ved treated clown loach succesfully with Interpet No. 9f at half dose.

i know wat u mean about the people catchin fish i was at this 1 place near me and there i was for 10 mins while she was trying to catch 2 corys for me in the end i walked off becus i was getting so fustrated.lol

Your friend is right, a lot of whitespot meds advise you half dose for scaleless fish and tetras.

If you have just finished a full strength course of whitespot treatment, I would wait a week or so after the final dose to be sure the whitespot has fully gone. Then I would change about 30-40% of the tank water over a couple of days, and filter over carbon for at least 48 hours before adding any new fish.

Good luck! :)

my white spot treatment actually has a pic of a clown loach on it...so i guess its ok....

i had 5 clown loaches in a 10 gallon :fun: everyone said i'm being cruel blah blah blah..and they never had ick..i even tried to explain that i was quarentin them and they can go in a new 55 gallon in one month...blah blah blah..the thing i beleive is this:

leave lights off for 1 day WRAP TANK WITH NEWSPAPER..add abit of ick med. to prevent, and my clowns never got ick..until 1 month later i put them in my 55 gallon and thought they'd be fine, how wrong was I? the water are different..and i guess they were stressed and go ick..now..my clowns are SO HARDY it's not even funny, clown loaches are the EASIEST fish to keep for me now :fun: and they are so cute too..sleeps on their sides! gud luc
