Hey guys. I have got 7 clown loaches in my main tank. Also got a spare holding breeding tank which houses cherry shrimps. They seem to like to breed. My question is do any of you keep your clown loaches with shrimps?

I googled it and its a mixed response.

The size that clown loaches get am fairly sure they'd just eat them.

i thought clowns ate any invert (snails and shrimp alike), you could always try putting some in, cherrys breed like hell anyway

, they love snails and i am pretty sure they will eat shrimp to, if they breed to much then it wont hurt feeding the shrimp to them and your loaches will reward you nicely

I know they love the snails! I had some fancy ones which they ate :(

Mmmm i think i will pass on putting the shrimps in! They killed a lot of my mollies already!

Can I ask how big your tank is? And do you realise that clown loaches grow in excess of 20 cms

As an absolute minimum the tank should have a footprint of 4 foot by 2 foot but probably should be around 6 foot long. LFSs Are terrible fore recommending these fish to people with smaller fish tanks - such as parents who were sold six for a 180 litre tank.

Over in the members aquarium section there is a lovely video of these guys in a >1000 litre tank / that's the type of tank year guys can thrive in.

I have 27 Clown loaches in my tank, they are friggin' useless at eating snails, in fact, they ignor them. I wouldn't risk the small cherry shrimps, but mine do have at least 3x 2 to 3 " shrimp in there with them, and they don't bother them at all
