Clown Loaches Gone?!

Hi There,

I had a bit of a snail dilemma this morning so rather than fill my tank with chemicals, I picked up four Clown Loaches from my local store. They seemed pretty happy, swimming around and nuzzling at the gravel to find food, even my catfish seemed to approve of them.

However, I went shopping for 2hrs and when I returned, all four have disappeared...completely! I've looked behind things, under things, even had a quick look inside my hollow plastic ornaments, and nothing!

Where oh where have they gone! Does anyone have any ideas?

Clown loaches are well known for their disappearing anticts!!

It happened to one of mine when I first got him. He disappeared for 2 days and I couln't find him even though I searched the tank high and low! Then suddenly, he was there! Swimming about with the other 2.

It is well documented for them to hide away for a while when they go in a new tank and can get themselves into the smallest spaces.

I would expect that this is what has happened with yours. You could try tempting them out with some bloodworm.

Saying that, I presume you have checked around the tank as well as in it? Although I doubt they will have all escaped!

You'll be pleased to know that one of them was spotted entering a hollow plastic sandfall ornament, and I am assuming that all four are camping out in there until they get used to their new surroundings!
