I have had bred Mollies for a while now but have just bought an aquaruim from ebay and aquired 25-30 fish. One Clown Loach who keeps going into a small space. I have released him three times - Is he stuck? is this normal? can anyone advise me please.

what size tank is it in as these guys get extremely big
and they need to be in groups
what other fish are in wiith him
what are your water stats if you test the water

The tank is 60cm x 40cm x 80cm
The clown loach is probaly 8cm long.
Theres No other clown loaches, in the tank with him! Is it worth getting another one or two?
There is one rainbow shark fish who seems to be friendly, when hes not in hiding.
In the tank there also are aprox. 15 tetra's, 11 mollys, 5 zebra danios, 1 rainbow shark, 2 checkered barbs and about 10 other small fish unidentified.

Thank you
Julesk

clown loaches need to be in groups of 4+ i think, but i dont think ur tank is big enough to handle 4 clowns + ur current stock.

Hi, the clown loach does need to be kept in a group, but i'm afriad your tank is nowhere near big enough to accommodate them, suggested tanksize is a 100G 150cm tank.

If you can post pics of the other species you have we can id them for you :good:

you need to rehome him really as these guys can get well over 30cm/12 inches and dont get any more as this will add to your poblem

and the rainbow shark can get to over 9 inches so also should be rehomed

I'm new to this site and don't know how to download a photo -

you need to put them on a site like photo bucket then copy the img code and paste it into

well a reply(here)

I agree with what has already been mentioned. Clown loaches need to be kept in groups of 4+ but the tank isnt big enough for even 1 clown loach let alone 4 so I'd advise you rehome him.

My daughter figered it out.
These are the fish which are unknown.

1st ones are mollys and some stressed black skirt tetra

second pearl gouramis

theyre very pale indicating there quit stressed

probably beacause of the move but you should look into buying a test kit if you dont already have one to test ammonia ,nitrite, nitrate,ph pretty essential

I agree with bae.

First pic, the black ones look like dalmation mollies, the silver one is a silver lyretail molly and the tetra are quite pale.

Second pic, as mentioned they are pearl gourami

I too would suggest you get a liquid based test kit if you dont already have one to find out your water stats.
